The Kentucky Wrestling Federation is a regional professional wrestling company that runs throughout the state of Kentucky.
Some of the KWF’s most famed competitors come from the famed Lee wrestling family. The patriarch of the family, Jackson Lee, was a former three-time KWF Heavyweight Champion. Jackson’s brother Jasper never held singles gold in the promotion but he was a tag champion with his brother. But it was Jackson’s son, Tyler, who turned out to be the KWF’s biggest star to date.
On May 17, 1999, Jackson and Jasper were teaming up to challenge The Southern Boys (Tim and Joe Thomas) for the KWF Tag Team Titles when Jasper suffered an injury at the hands of the Thomas Brothers. Desperate for a partner, Jackson turned to his then 19 year old son Tyler who was ready to make his KWF debut. Tyler and Jackson failed to win the titles last night, winning the match by disqualification but a star was born. On Christmas Eve, 1999, Jackson Lee retired from the pro wrestling business, feeling that his three children, including Tyler, could carry the family name forward into the next decade and beyond.
Tyler Lee started 2000 by pledging that he would win gold before 2001. He started off on a hot streak, dispatching several top contenders before he crashed headlong into a feud with the feared Super Assassin, a masked man weighing over 300 pounds. The two men feuded for months, carrying the KWF’s business all summer long before Lee dispatched him in a Loser Leaves Town match at the end of the summer. On Thanksgiving night, Lee challenged “The Cruncher” David Colt for the Heritage Championship, the KWF’s secondary title. Lee scored the win that night and celebrated with his entire family in the ring.
A little over a year later, at all of 21 years old, Tyler Lee was about to face the toughest challenge of his life as his Uncle Jasper returned to the KWF on Christmas Day 2001 in shocking fashion – by assaulting his own nephew. Jasper left Tyler in a bloody pile before walking out of the building that night. Tyler Lee went on the next month to win the KWF Heavyweight Title, the same belt his father held three times, from Lord William Marsbury in a brutal Street Fight… and was again assaulted by his Uncle Jasper. The feud was on and it raged almost an entire year – eventually involving every member of the family, including Jackson Lee who came out of retirement for one night to do battle with his own brother. But in the end on Thanksgiving Night 2002, Jasper Lee defeated his nephew in a bloody Loser Leaves Town affair, sending his nephew packing from the KWF.
